CANADA-SRI LANKA BUSINESS COUNCIL
FORMED: DECEMBER 18, 1990 - INCORPORATED: APRIL 22, 1992

The fundamental mission of the Canada-Sri Lanka Business Council (the “Council”) is to promote and assist bi-lateral trade, investment, tourism, technology transfer and industrial cooperation between Canada and Sri Lanka.

The objectives will be achieved by the following means:
 

  • Providing market information, commercial intelligence, advice and other assistance to businesses in both jurisdictions;
     

  • Introducing individuals and firms to relevant business contacts in Sri Lanka, with particular reference to potential agents, distributors, representatives and joint venture partners; and relevant decision-makers
    and end-users, both public and private sector;
     

  • Raising awareness of potential business opportunities through Newsletters, Website, dissemination of commercial information, seminars and other means;
     

  • Attracting and maintaining a nucleus of quality business members to the Council to promote and facilitate meaningful business networking;
     

  • Communicating and interacting effectively with the Council’s counterpart organization in Sri Lanka, The Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council and the Council’s MOU partner in Sri Lanka, The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), in order to recognize and implement business initiatives that will benefit members in both organizations. The dissemination of all relevant business information to members and the planning, organization and implementation of trade and investment missions and seminars to and in each jurisdiction are key initiatives;
     

  • Working closely with the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canada, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto and the Canadian High Commission in Sri Lanka to foster and disseminate business information to all members in a timely manner;
     

  • Encouraging and assisting official trade and investment-related delegations between Canada and Sri Lanka comprised of key business leaders and individuals as well as key government leaders and decision-makers;
     

  • Undertaking other special initiatives, which in the opinion of the Council will help achieve the fundamental mission of the Council.
